In this guide we'll take a look at the most common problems when connecting a Facebook Page. In most cases, following these steps solves the problem. If you are looking to solve an Instagram Account connection problem, please start with this guide anyway to make sure your Facebook connection is set up properly.

Check Chatfuel permissions

If you don't see your Facebook Page in the list, go to your DashboardFacebook Pages and click Update pages list. Doing so should automatically ask you for necessary permissions. Please grant them to Chatfuel to use chatbot automation.

If this didn't help, make sure Chatfuel has all of the required permissions in your Facebook Business Integrations manually. Follow the steps below or read this detailed guide on how to edit privacy settings.

  1. Go to Business Integrations Settings.

  2. Click on View and edit next to Chatfuel.

  3. Make sure the toggles are on for necessary permissions.

To function properly Chatfuel requires the following persmissions:

  • Manage your Pages;

  • Send messages from Pages you manage;

  • Send messages from Pages you manage at any time after the first user interaction;

  • Show a list of the Pages you manage.

You can also completely remove Chatfuel from your Business integrations, and then try connecting the Page again. It can help if you are an Admin of the Page, but it doesn't show up in the list in dashboard.

Check your admin rights

Make sure you are a Facebook Business Account Admin and a Facebook Page Admin. Page roles like Editor or Moderator don't have enough permissions to connect chatbots. To check it, follow the steps below.

Facebook Page:

  1. Go to your Pages and choose your Facebook Page.

  2. Select Settings in the left menu.

  3. Select Page roles in the left column.

  4. You should see Admin next to your name.

If you want to add another person as Admin follow these steps.

Facebook Business Suite:

  1. Go to Business Settings and choose your name from the list.

  2. You should see Admin access next to your name.

If you want to give another person Admin access, please follow these steps.

Check Handover Protocol

Sometimes you'll have to manually turn on Handover Protocol. To check and make sure that it is on:

  1. Go to your Pages and choose your Facebook Page.

  2. Go to SettingsAdvanced Messaging.

  3. Go to Handover Protocol section.

  4. Click Configure next to Messenger receiver.

  5. Click Select and choose Chatfuel from the drop-down list.

Try disabling Ad blocker

If no window opens after clicking Connect next to your Facebook Page or Instagram Account section try disabling your Ad blocker. In some cases Ad blocker might prevent Chatfuel from accessing Facebook settings. There are no ads in Chatfuel, so it is safe to make an exception for and turn Ad blocker off.

To disable in Chrome

  1. Go to

  2. Click on the Ad Blocker icon.

  3. Click on Pause on this site.

To disable in Safari

  1. Go to

  2. Click on the Ad Blocker icon.

  3. Click on Don't run on this page.
