One-Time Notification lets you send users a one follow-up message after the 24-hour messaging window has ended. Recurring Notification allows sending several messages on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. This functionality helps you stay in touch with your customers over a period of time.

In order to send this notification, you will need to subscribe a user within the 24-hour messaging window first. Using these notifications is really helpful for a price drop, a back-in-stock alert, or a collection launch. Let’s look at the examples below to see how you can use this functionality.

One-Time Notification (OTN)

a user finishes Flow → bot waits for 12 hours → bot sends a message asking to subscribe to one more message → user opts in → bot can now send a single message outside the 24-hour window.

Recurring Notifications

a user finishes Flow → bot waits for 20 hours → bot sends a message asking to subscribe to multiple recurring messages → user opts in → bot can now send several recurring messages outside the 24-hour window.

Using OTN or Recurring Notifications

Sending One-Time or Recurring Notifications always consists of two steps:

  1. Asking a user to subscribe (opt-in).

  2. Setting up a reengage message in Reengage tab.

How to subscribe a user to OTN or Recurring Notifications

To let your users opt-in for OTN or Recurring notifications, you need to add a One-Time Notification or Recurring Notification block to any place in your Flow. A good idea is to add it to the end of your Flow so that after your customers finish the conversation you can subscribe them to future messages. After they click Notify Me you can start sending reengage messages.

How to send a reengage message

After you successfully subscribed a user, head to Reengage tab. Decide on when to send your single or recurring messages, choose the appropriate Message Tag (OTN or Recurring) and add content to your message.

Rules for using OTN and Recurring notifications

There are some important rules for both OTN and Recurring notifications:

  • Nothing misleading, a user gets what they agreed to get.

  • No incentive, you can’t offer anything like money as a reason to subscribe.

  • Really specific:

    Get Notified: When we restock!

    ✔️ Get Notified: When we get new lipstick back in stock!

One-Time Notification

OTN feature allows for exactly one message. However, users can subscribe to multiple One-Time Notifications from your Messenger bot (e.g. a back-in-stock alert and an alert for the launch of a new collection). You’ll need to subscribe a user for each one, and you’ll need to do it within the 24-hour window.

Recurring Notification

NTN allows sending multiple reengage messages on a regular basis. There are three options you can choose between:

  • DAILY allows businesses to send 1 message per day for 6 months;

  • WEEKLY allows businesses to send 1 message per week for 9 months;

  • MONTHLY allows businesses to send 1 message per month for 12 months.

Requesting One-Time Notification

To use One-Time Notification you need to request it first. To do this, follow the steps below. After you get approved, it's time to set up your message in Reengage tab.

  1. Go to your Facebook PagePage SettingsAdvanced Messaging.

  2. Under Requested features click Request next to One-Time Notification.

  3. Go to Flow Builder and add a One-Time Notification block.

  4. Fill out the text fields in the block.

  5. Connect it to your Flow.
