The Comments Autoreply Entry Point is a no-code solution. 🍰

Entry Points are a powerful feature of the Flow Builder interface (the Flows tab under the Automation tab) that brings new users to your chatbot. The Comments Autoreply Entry Point lets your bot automatically respond to users who comment on your Instagram posts publicly as a reply comment in the thread.

Use cases for the Comments Autoreply Entry Point 📚

The Comments Autoreply Entry Point is a powerful feature with many different applications. It can help you boost your sales and conversion rates and generate leads from the comments. It's also ideal for contests and giveaways.

The Comments Autoreply Entry Point has several functionalities, including the ability to:

  • reply to comments under all posts or just specifiс ones

  • post a public reply to the user's comment

  • set an optional delay of seconds, minutes, hours, or days for the public replies

  • set up a reply and keyword triggers for old users of your bot (different from the reply and keyword triggers for new users)

⚠️ Currently, it's not possible to post private responses, only public ones. As soon as the private response functionality becomes officially available in the Instagram API, we'll be supporting it as well.

How to set up a Comments Autoreply Entry Point 🔧

1. Add the Comments Autoreply Entry Point to your flow. There are three ways to do that: by double-clicking or right-clicking in any blank area of the workspace, by clicking the + symbol to the right of your Instagram flow name, or by clicking the small icon with the screen and + symbol on the right side of the workspace.

2. Grant Chatfuel the necessary permissions to reply to comments by clicking Grant Permission in the error message that appears when you hover over the caution sign in the top right corner of the Entry Point card.

3. Using the drop-down menu, choose the content that your autoreply will apply to. You can apply it to:

  • comments on all posts

  • comments on a specific post(s) only

❗️Note that the autoreply feature works only for the classic posts in your account.

4. If you choose to apply Comments Autoreply to a specific post(s), a window will come up, where you'll be able to find and choose the post(s) you need by:

  • browsing to find the post

  • typing in the keywords from that post

5. Next, you need to set which comments your chatbot will automatically reply to.

  • If you want your bot to respond only to comments with certain keyword(s), type those keyword(s) in the box under Comments with keywords. For example, you might type refund and money back in the same box to have your bot reply to those seeking a refund. You can also use an emoji as a keyword. Press enter after typing one keyword to save it and type another. You can also use an emoji as a keyword. You can add multiple keyword groups by clicking + Add Keyword Group.

  • If you want your bot to reply to other comments (instead of only those with certain keywords), leave the Comments matching keywords box blank.

6. Now you need to draft the actual message your bot will send in response to user comments. To do this, drag the arrow from the connector circle on the Entry Point's card. A new card for the reply will appear. You can create just one reply for all possible scenarios or create different replies for comments with keywords, and other comments.

7. Decide where you want your chatbot to reply to users:

  • publicly on the user's comment on the post

Please note that the private response is not available yet. We'll support the functionality as soon as it's available within the Instagram API.

8. Customize the reply or replies you've selected. For both replies, you can choose to have your bot wait before responding to comments by setting a delay (in seconds, minutes, hours, days). The maximum delay for private replies will be seven days. There is no maximum delay for public replies.

For the public reply in the comments:

  • Customize the content of the reply itself. It can contain text and emoji.

  • You can add more than one by clicking + Add random reply option (it'll appear when you click on one of the replies you've already added). Your bot will then randomly switch between posting these reply options to commenters, so its responses aren't all the same.

For the private reply on Instagram Direct (once the functionality becomes available):

  • Use the drop-down menu to choose which form you want the reply message to take: text message or image. Then, customize the message.

  • You can add user attributes in the reply if you select the text format for your message. But you can only use {{instagram_name}} in that initial reply. Once the user responds, the following messages from your chatbot can contain any user attributes.

  • Finally, you may choose to set up a Save User Input option, if you need your chatbot to be able to accept and save user inputs (for now, only text is available). The bot will save these inputs automatically as user attributes.

9. Lastly: if you want, you can also set a separate reply and keyword triggers for those who are already users of your chatbot (meaning they've interacted with it previously at some point). Do this by checking the Different flow for existing users box on the original Entry Point block. Then, add keyword groups and link them to reply blocks just as you did previously.

10. Toggle the Entry Point on (using the toggle switch in the top right corner of the card) when you're ready to activate it.

⚠️ Note: While you can set up Entry Points at any stage of the bot building process, you must connect an Instagram Business account to your bot to activate it. And your Instagram account must be linked to the Facebook Page you've connected to Chatfuel.

How many Comments Autoreply Entry Points can you have? 🤔

You can have as many active Comments Autoreply Entry Points at a time as you like. For example, you can have a default rule for all of your posts and also set up a different rule for specific posts separately if you need it. In this case, the rule that you set up specifically for the post will override your default rule.

Also note that if a user comments more than once on a post that has an Autoreply set up, your chatbot will only respond to them once (after the first comment). That way, your bot won't spam users who are in an active discussion in the comments on one of your posts.

Can you use Instagram automation?
